The Arc of DFW is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families through advocacy, education, and community support, helping them live life on their own terms.

The Arc of DFW is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families through advocacy, education, and community support, helping them live life on their own terms.

The previous website lacked intuitive navigation, modern accessibility features, and a compelling visual identity, making it difficult for users to find resources and engage with the organization.

The previous website lacked intuitive navigation, modern accessibility features, and a compelling visual identity, making it difficult for users to find resources and engage with the organization.

We assessed the original website using heuristic evaluation and an information architecture review, holding regular check-ins with the client to align on objectives, clarify concerns, and identify key content needs.


As a result, we completely redesigned the website to enhance usability and support the I/DD community. Key updates included:


  • A more informative Home page

  • New sections for Advocacy, Programs, and a Story Bank

  • A mobile-friendly layout

  • Streamlined information architecture by reducing content layers, removing dead links, and simplifying

  • site maintenance

  • Custom infographics to present information clearly

  • Reusable template pages for future programs


Additionally, we provided a handoff document that included page components, a style guide, and plugin instructions to assist with

site building.

As a result, we completely redesigned the website to enhance usability and support the I/DD community. Key updates included:

After the design phase, two team members continued collaborating with The Arc of DFW Area to bring the website to life. Our redesigned achieved a 216% increase of visitors after the first month. The site is now live, fully built using our design.
